Devon Conway is a New Zealand international cricketer who was born on July 8, 1991, in Johannesburg, South Africa. He is a left-handed batsman who also occasionally bowls right-arm medium pace. Conway moved to New Zealand in 2017 and qualified to play for the national team in 2020.

Conway began his cricket career playing for Gauteng in South Africa before moving to Wellington, New Zealand, in 2017. He made his first-class debut for Wellington in the 2017-18 Plunket Shield season and scored a century on debut against Auckland. He finished the season with 635 runs at an average of 45.35 and was named the Domestic Player of the Year at New Zealand Cricket's annual awards.

Conway continued to impress in domestic cricket and was eventually called up to the New Zealand A team in 2019. He had a successful tour of the United Arab Emirates, where he scored 347 runs in five matches, including a double century against the United Arab Emirates.

In June 2020, Conway was named in the New Zealand squad for the first time for the home series against West Indies. He made his debut in the first T20I of the series and scored an impressive 41 off 29 balls. In the second T20I, he scored an unbeaten 65 off 37 balls, helping New Zealand chase down a target of 238 and win the match.

Conway's success in the T20I series earned him a spot in the New Zealand squad for the home Test series against West Indies. He made his Test debut in the first Test of the series and scored a half-century in the first innings, becoming the 12th New Zealand player to score a fifty on Test debut.

Conway's performances in his debut series earned him a spot in the New Zealand squad for the away series against Pakistan. In the first Test of the series, he scored a double century in the first innings, becoming just the second New Zealand player to achieve this feat on Test debut, after Mathew Sinclair. Conway's innings of 200 off 347 balls included 22 fours and a six and helped New Zealand win the Test by 101 runs.

Conway continued to impress in the series and finished as the leading run-scorer, scoring 447 runs at an average of 74.50, including two centuries and two half-centuries. He was named the Player of the Series for his performances.

In April 2021, Conway made his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Kolkata Knight Riders. He scored a half-century in his second match, becoming the first New Zealand player to score a fifty on IPL debut.

Conway has quickly become a key player for the New Zealand team in all formats of the game. His ability to score runs quickly and his consistency with the bat have made him a valuable asset to the team. He has also shown his versatility by opening the batting in T20Is and coming in at number three in Tests.

Conway's rise to the top has been nothing short of remarkable. He had to wait until the age of 28 to qualify to play for New Zealand, but he has quickly established himself as one of the best batsmen in the country. With his talent and determination, there is no doubt that Conway will continue to make an impact in international cricket for years to come.
